My proudest moment in Applied Microbiology class.
Applied Microbiology is the class I feel most accomplished in. I was winning kahoot all the time, my lab reports were organized, and my work ethics were on their top notches. It was not that difficult of a class, but it was a lot of information--a lot of science, if you know what I mean. I was tutoring people in my class as well.
The units I loved the most was near the end, when we were learning about different infectious diseases in different organ systems. We also had to research on our own an infectious disease. Me, being a dietetics student, who was also taking MNT class, decided to do gastritis. I thought might as well kill two birds with one stone, learning about gastritis since I was going to be tested anyway in MNT class about that GI disorder.
You can read what I learned about H. pylori and gastritis. What I want to share is to encourage all of you to pursue excellence. This is why I was super proud of this assignment. I researched thoroughly. I kept researching and looking things up until I comprehended the concepts. I kept questioning things until I could explain the concept in my own word like a heartbeat. I saw a quote a long time ago that says, “If you can't explain it to a six-year-old, you don't understand it yourself.” That is my philosophy to everything.
TBH, I have always thought to myself that I am just extra, doing more than others. But when you give your best in a work/assignment, it shows externally and internally. Externally, people can see that you know your stuff. You earn respect. In turn, you feel accomplished, proud, and ever more motivated to continue giving your best.
Notice that I said your best. Not other people's best. Your best, at that current moment, at that current mental state, physical state, emotional state. Have you done everything you can at your highest capacity? Sometimes that looks like simply writing one word. Sometimes that is simply asking for help. And sometimes, it means to be extra.
